Update... Took her to a very nice vet who said she is definitely constipated. Advised me on changing her diet to waxworms, silkworms and crickets and eliminate the mealworms as they are very hard to digest. She also gave me an all natural laxative I am to give her once a day til it is gone and said she should poo soon. We reviewed her living quarters, both current and the one she will have in about a week, and she said other than the coconut husk bedding, I have been doing a great job of being Georgie's mommy. She perked up quite a bit at the vet also. Vet said also to keep giving her the ReptiBoost at full strength to supplement her diet. She said there are a lot of nutrients in it Georgie needs and it will help with any deficiencies from the insects. Before Georgie stopped eating the crickets altogether, I was putting apples, carrots, lettuce and potatoes, all shredded, in with the crickets and vet said that would be good to continue, in addition to the calcium powders, both with and without the D3. I am so relieved that it wasn't anything more serious and from what our vet said, should work itself out in a day or so.

Almost forgot :)
No eggs, from the X-rays. Was told to keep her temp lower and that should help keep her from gorging herself when she does eat again. Vet said she probably just ate a few too many mealworms. I am so thankful they called me back today!

***also, she weighs a WHOPPING 66 grams!

That's great news! Besides the advice that you received and mentioned, hydration hydration hydration! It will make it infinitely easier to pass the stool. Keep giving showers!

She just vomited a bunch of undigested and partially digested worms. Is that bad or is it just the laxative made her vomit?

I think at this point which ever end the worms come out of is good. Just keep on keeping on as you have been doing. Hopefully she'll be feeling much better soon.

Completely cleaned & sanitized her indoor enclosure while I had her outside soaking up some much needed sun this evening. Got rid of the coconut husk and laid down newspaper instead. Which is the preferred type of plants for chams? Real or fake? And thank you, again to ALL who have offered advice! Everyone has been pretty spot on with my new vet! Much appreciated!

Thank you! She's not doing much better. Day 2 of the laxative and she kept the fluids I gave her this morning down but my fiancé said when he tried this afternoon, she vomited again. No worms this time though, just the fluids. She's still really puffy too and still no poo... She's definitely not only stressing herself, but me as well! But what more can one do? So the wait continues! Onward with the warm mists, visits to the shower, fluid supplements & laxative...

***update*** Georgie is still alive...we have been diligent in our quest to help her through this tough spell. When I arrived home from work, my fiancé had been home for a few hours and had let her soak in a warm bowl of water for about half hour and then in a light shower as well, per a convo with our vet. When I went to check her, she was hanging upside down from one of her branches in her home and did not even move a bit or even open her eyes when I tried to right her. I immediately thought the worst and called my fiancé in. He, being the strong silent type, gently took her from me, walked into our bathroom and shut the door. After about 10 minutes he called me in and he was sitting, half in the shower with her with a warm drizzle on her and he asked if something was happening on her hind end. When I looked, I saw that she was passing a BEAUTIFUL blob of urate, mostly white, with just a touch of a light rust color at the very end. I almost cried tears of joy! We are not out of the woods yet, I realize though. She has yet to poo. She has vomited twice in the last hour and has been trying to go. Let's keep our fingers crossed! This is almost as bad as watching a sick child you can do nothing more than be supportive to!

It sounds like you and your fiance are investing yourselves in this 100%. I'm so glad it seems to be helping.

ps: one day you will look back and realize you got teary eyed over pee that you went online to describe as "beautiful" and find that amusing....that's more proof that they are like our children.

I'm not starting to wonder if she might have a touch of a respiratory infection brewing from all the fluids and showers. She has been laying on the bottom of her enclosure with her mouth open for about 2 hours now and I think I detect a slight wheeze. I will talk to my vet tomorrow about maybe some antibiotics. She looks good as far as hydration though. Eyes aren't sunken and skin seems pretty supple. Just wish the poofy belly would go away! Makes it hard to sleep, for fear I'm going to miss something, or worse...

Spoke with the vet. Got some Baytral (antibiotic). Got one dose in her and then she turned all white, started shaking her head like crazy, mouth wide open, tongue sticking out, body went rigid, she expelled some urate and went limp. She isn't moving at all other than to open her mouth to breathe and vomit. Urate was a bit rusty looking and a LOT of fluid & mucous. She's biting her tongue also. I'm not feeling very good about this at all. She is still trying to poo also. Vent is open and she goes stiff for about a minute then limp...When is enough enough? I know she has to be suffering! My fiance, who has MUCH more patience than I, said to give the antibiotics a chance and keep up the showers...

Your poor baby. All of that does not sound good. Maybe she had a reaction to the Baytril. Are you sure the dose was correct? I will keep her in my prayers.

0.1cc...
Little Georgie just passed away. I just went to check on her and she was all white, tonge sticking straight out of her mouth and after watching for about 15 minutes, not one breath...I feel so bad!! Now the "what if's" start. I know now if and when I decide to try this again, I will be doing a LOT of things differently! I just hate the feeling of helplessness! Atleast she isn't suffering anymore! Goodbye Miss Georgie! Momma's gonna miss you!

Oh, I'm so sorry.

When you're ready to try again (and I think you should) make sure you come here to get all the right information on what to buy and how to set things up.
