I bought a 10.0 bulb to place on my Mellers cage but I noticed after I bought the bulb it said for desert terrarium would that still be ok? I am just trying to make his home a bit lighter. I have a 5.0 Reptisun in right now and the 10.0 I bought is Repti Glo by Exo Terra.

10.0 is more than you need. Is it a tube or CF??? If its a 10.0 tube , then suspend it further from the top of the cage. Better yet , replace it for a good 5.0 linear tube flourescent.

Ok I will return it(it is a tube)....So to make more light I can just place a regular flourescent tube over his cage in addition to his 5.0 reptisun tube?

Yes certainly. UV rating is not to do with visible brightness. None of the Uv tubes are particularly bright because they are designed to output mostly UV light energy that we dont see.
I use an additional normal flouro (compact ) for increased visible brightness in the cage.
Mind you, you dont want it 'close encounters of the third kind' bright! :)
No sunnys for chams.
