Getting Baby on Tuesday!

Greeting Everyone!

I am so excited, I will be getting my new Ambilobe Panther Cham on Tuesday! Getting him form Chameleon Paradise....He will be the offspring of Candy Cane. Such a gorgeous Cham Candy Can is! He is now retired from breading and I am thrilled to have one of his last babies.

I have had Veilds before. Just had to give mine up 2 months ago. We moved from AZ to TX and we had to be in a hotel for almost 3 weeks. I didn't want to put that stress of the move on my cham, so as hard as it was to let him go, I found a great new home for him. He was one of the sweetest chams ever! I promised myself, and made my husband promise me, that I could get another cham when we got settled.

Well, we are settled and he is coming! So excited to have gotten to pick out the sire. I feel so much more prepared than when I got my veiled. And I wasn't new to keeping reptiles then. I have had snakes and other lizards before. And I still have a bearded dragon now.

I will be converting a new large bird cage into a screened enclosure for him. Sounds weird, I know, but it will be really cool when I'm done. I figure with a cage, the frame is there and there is a drainage pan already there. Its not one of those flimsy parakeet cage, it's a cage for a medium parrot, very great quality and on a stand. I do have a smaller enclosure already ready for him and food waiting.

Sorry for the long post, I am just thrilled to have him on the way!!

Here is a pic of the Sire, Candy Cane....

I have seen pics of Candy C. before. Gorgeous. Make sure that cage is disinfectedwashed for safe keeping. Good Luck!

I have had him now for about a month and a half. He has grown so much!! I still don't have a name for him, I kinda want to wait till his colors come in more. He is already showing some yellows and blues and reds, I can't wait to see how much more!! But I am open to some suggestions!

AND I finally got his new enclosure done! I converted a bird cage into a cage for him. I basically sewed the screen into place. And the cool part is that a bird cage has great feeder cup holders, a stand and a great drain pan. And it is pretty! For now I have carpet on the grate until he gets a bit bigger. And, the dome can be removed so that I can add height, if needed, as he grows. It all worked out so great!

I have added a live ficus and lots of vines. I am very happy with how it turned out. And the humidity has been easily maintained. I can spike it for a few hours even when I run the fogger for about 10 minutes.

What do you all think?

Congradulations on the new cham! I remember when I got my Ambilobe Panther chameleon from Kammerflage Kreations. When I got him he was 4 months old and is now 10 months old. Good luck with your new cham. :)

That cage turned out fantastic! Such a neat way to convert a bird cage! Your boy is so handsome! He is going to develop beautifully! I'd call him chirp haha just because of the bird cage!

I feed him mainly with dubia roaches. They don't climb so the cup feeding is perfect. I don't like feeding with crickets. Half of them die before they can be fed and they stink. Dubia are easy to keep and rarely die.
