Getting female panthers ready to breed

I have two female panthers that are now about 18 months old (a little small, but I guess that's just average for females). I've been supplementing a little extra and feeding heavily for several months now and during they day they exhibit beautful peach coloration with no dark bars. When I introduce a male (both males are older and HUGE), they exhibit receptive coloration for a while until the male gets too close and then they seem to freak out and run away. They don't really show distinct non-receptive coloration but clearly they don't want the male to approach any further.

I have been introducing them every few days now, and I've tried a couple configurations-- putting the female in the males cage, and introducing them in a ficus tree I let them free-range in on occasion. Nothing seems to make a difference. Any advice from successful breeders on getting the females to stay receptive? Any help or suggestions would be great, I'd really like to get these guys bred before it cools down too much here.

Anyone? what about placing their cages side by side so they can see each other for a couple of days before introducing them?

You could try that. When you are home to watch them you could also let them hand out on the same tree out of the cage together for the afternoon or evening.

Its not uncommon for a female to lead the male on a small chase for a few minutes. If she is not displaying distinct aggression / non receptivity like opening her moth or changing colour, leave them (keep an eye on them) for a few minutes. If after 20 minutes there is still no action, separate them (even if she isnt overtly aggressive towards him).
My suggestion is PATIENCE. Wait a week, try again to introduce them. If not successfully, wait several more days (keep them separated visually inbetween times), then try again. Sometimes it takes a few months before the lady will be agreeable, and there's no way to rush her - she is in control, not you, not the male. Dont try to force it.

I wouldnt place their cages next to eachother! It could cause alot of stress on the female and she will not want to breed! WHat I did in the past is...bring the female to the males cage and when she doesnt gape, hiss or show her dark non receptive colors! She will just climb right into the males cage! Just try every few days to a week til she does so! Hopefully this helps :)
