Getting your Cam outside

Hey guys , I want get my Chameleon outside but I am very stressed about a hawk or big bird grabbing her , what are your advice?

Well, I recently bought a 7-foot tall silver maple to keep on my back porch for the purpose of taking my panther cham out for some rays for the first time. I share your paranoia regarding birds of prey and it's a healthy paranoia to have! Hopefully some other members will chime in, but my main advice is just keep your eye on your chameleon as much as possible. I also keep a stick in hand just in case I have to swat anything away :p

I think the safest thing to do is get a cage for outdoor use. It can be smaller that your everyday cage. I have read too many stories of people that answered their phone or had some other minor distraction and lost track of their cham. I have one that I hang from the eves of the house so they are up high and partially shaded.

I had a set of spare cages I set up for outdoor use, please remember to modify your cage set up for out door use, add tons of hide out areas under plants for shade and thermoregulation, the sun is great but WILL easily over heat and kill your Cham if you don’t take the proper precautions

of course, I am very protective of her and very aware of her safety

the problem is I don't have a balcony :(

Does that mean you don't have a yard or anything? You could just put a plant next to an open sunny window with the screen in place. Glass will block UVB but screen will just reduce it a little.

Yes she is always on the dragon tree near the window but somedays I wana take her outside so she wouldn't be bored , thank you

A cage would be best but deer netting over a small tree will stop most animals from even trying. Be careful, the Jackson chams of Hawaii are there because someone thought they could just let them hang outside on a bush and poof, they were gone.
