Hello everyone, I know that you can put your cham in front of a mirror to get him to display. Besides introducing a female to the mix does anyone have any good tips on bringing out your cham's best colors? (I have a 50/50 ambanja ambilobe mix).
Chameleons are all differnet there might be some things that makes your individual chameleon show off his colors where someone elses wouldnt do a thing. For some reason my chameleon like the curtains and he always walks to them and gets on them and then he shows off his colors where the mirror doesnt affect him at all. Might just take some getting to know your chameleon and it prob depends on how often you hold him. You could try a shower sometimes that gets them to show off some colors.
Mine usually had the best colors when he was sleeping - or very angry, but I don't recommend that (the vet could be relied upon to bring out a good color show).
if you can show him a female you will see colours youve never seen in him. i started a thread with a similar question & this absolutely got the best result. some people would say to try the mirror, not that i think theres anything really wrong with that on a very rare occasion, but i dont really like seeing my very calm cham pissed off. the only thing with a female is that,(& this is a personal thing as well,) its kinda mean to get him going for no reason if your not intending on a breeding project. if there is anybody who knows of any health concerns can arise from his please let me know. i did this once & the female wasnt receptive. he wasnt allowed to get at her. it took him a full day to calm down.
aw didnt realize it was a female. females dont generally display the blues & purples like males. they are generally a peachy or beige colour. some have pastelley blues, purples & greens but not al the time. when a female is gravid she shows some cool colours too. my favourite thing about females is you will see really drastic changes like bars that just show up in an instant when you drop in some feeders & she gets on her hunting gear.
Hey greg, how about just enjoying Crash and his normal colors and stop being such an over protective parent!!! You gave your mother crap so many times over the years for her always checking on you and "s-mothering" you!!! Funny how smothering has the word mother right in it! Stop being over paranoid!!! and just enjoy the healthy young man for what he is!!! and you should tell everyone here how u tried to bring his colors out by dressing like a giant panther chameleon!!! haha
Since i am not a fan of stressing chameleons, my suggestion is let it outside often under the sun. The sun is a really good way to get to see unique colors!
Other than that, why now enjoying your healthy chameleon unstressed and relaxed?
Well my male ambanja doesnt care about seeing himself in the mirror. But he hates hair so I just put my head by him and he fires up some awsome colours.
