glut loading crickets

I have a male veild cham 6mths old and a panther cham 4-5 mths old , my question is glut loading cricket ? ,,,I seen on youtube that you can feed crickets hard dog or cat food , I put lettuce and any kind of orange slices in with the crickets , I bought hard cat food and crickets seems to like it, just wondering if cat or dog food has something in it that could harm my chams

do NOT use cat or dog food. there are many fruits and veggies you can feed to the crickets. many of those foods, you probably already eat yourself from time to time, and can just throw a scrap or two into the cricket cages here and there.

you will find this link helpful: https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/food/

scroll down to "Gutload"

"dog food" and "cat food" are on the list of things to avoid. go out and get some of the other items on the list instead.

If you look up a researcher named Finke you can find numerous studies on crickets and gutloading. Regarding the Ca:ph ratio, only one commercial diet produced a desirable ratio so most commercial gutloads are crap.

if ur using fruit and veg to gutload would also be best to use organic, ur bugs will live for longer. I tend to gutload with organic kale and rocket

Cricket crack, big burger, repashy super load, gut loads I use, along with vegetables and fruits a puréed and froze into chunks, break a piece off and offer it to my crickets as a wet gutload

Bug buffet, along with some green leafy veggies (Turnip, Collard or mustard Greens) and i usually rotate between Blueberries, sweat potatoes, an orange slice, or a carrot)

I free range my crickets, so they're right there in the cage with my Cham. This lid sits at the bottom.
