I would use all natural soil with nothing besides dirt honestly. I free range sometimes and if my bugs were on a piece of vermiculite, I don’t think that would be good. Also if you do decide to use that soil make sure to put big, smooth rocks at the top of the soil. And also make sure they are disenfected

If the soil is organic and natural with none of the organic pesticides, then it should be fine. Vermiculite isn't something to worry about as long as you, like @Juanns01 said, cover the soil with large rocks that totally cover the soil and cannot be accidentally consumed by your cham.

So do you recommend I just use some dirt from my backyard? And cover the top with rocks? I bought some rocks from home depot along with that bag of soil I’ll post a picture of the back soon

So I should be ok with repotting and just making sure all of the top soil is covered by rocks. I feed my chameleon one by one by placing a bug near him and letting him chase after it. If any fall on the bare floor I pick them up and let him have a go at it again so I don’t think having dirt on my bugs will be an issue

Using all natural soil is my opinion but it’s totally up to you as long as the soil isn’t toxic or has some kind of ingredient that is harmful to bugs or your chams. And dirt from your backyard could have pesticides in it or it could have some bacteria so I would not recommend that. Just some plain soil at Home Depot should do you pretty good.

Yes, just repot with organic soil and cover with large enough rocks that your cham cannot ingest them.
It isn't about the bugs getting dirty. You do not want you cham to be able to eat the soil.
