going outdoors

I was wondering how everyone takes their Chams outside and in what? My female Jacksonni lives in the basement and her current cage is heavy. How often do other take them outside?

i have an outdoor cage for him.
I'll never let him free roam outside. too risky.
These creatures are swift when they need to be.
since I live in CA, i don't need to worry too much about the weather gets too cold for him.

I clean the cage once a week. During the cleaning, I took him to his outdoor enclosure to bask.

Just get another cage and set it up outside...here is one of mine...

i realize i am a little paranoid but do you carry them on your hand between cages and is this considered stressful. last week i took both my chams out from the basement put them on new cleaned ficus plants i bought for their bigger cages and watched them as i ate my lunch (yes i was careful not to get salmonella washing hands and Purell) and yes every bird noise worried me

any type of handling will be stressful to some degree.
therefore, the only thing you can do is minimize the frequency.

I do carry my chameleon on my hand in between cages.

I'm glad to see responisible chameleon caretakers like you're self going "Outdoors" when it comes to the chameleon's enclosure. Would you recomend if chameleons can live in a free range/ large walk-in screen cage with live plants?? For the chameleons to live there whole lives in??:)

Provided you have the right climate for it, chameleons will certainly fare well if kept outside in natural sunshine all of the time.

Zerah Morris designed and built exactly the type of walk-in enclosure you're talking about. You can read about it here: DIY Large Outdoor Free Ranging Enclosure
I believe that Zerah himself only uses that enclosure during the summer when the climate is more favourable. Read the disclaimer at the bottom of his article about the risks involved in keeping chams outdoors permanently.

Wow, that's incredible! He lives sort of close to me, I wonder if he has as many storms as we do here? That's pretty cool though.

Our Veiled, Luie stays in a big walk in cage (free range) on our screened back porch, when weather permits. Now that it's hot in South FL he's usually only out there a couple of hours in the evenings.
