I lost Sophia last night. She is the last female, of the import brought in May of this year. Well the last female sent out to the 4 of us who bought them, Showjet95, the importer, said he still has 2 females from the import.

Sophia lived in an 18x18x36 cage about 9" from Hans, the male I received the same time. Both were treated the same every day of their lives, until the last week when Sophia'a behavior changed. Hans is still doing just fine, as are all the other males.

I put my heart into raising these tiny chams, we all started with such high hopes. Bye my baby Sophia, you will always live in my heart.

I am so sorry Laurie, You did everything you could and made her a great home. I know how you feel and am so upset for you. Big Huggs Ill call in a bit

So sorry for your loss! May you find peace in knowing you are a very loving and capable caretaker. The fact that you were willing to take a challenge head on says a lot. It is through the risks that are taken that husbandry grows. Thank you for your dedication to the hobby/science of Chameleons...

I was keeping up with the other thread and so hoping for a positive outcome. Very, very sorry, Laurie. RIP sweet little Sophia.

Sorry to hear of the death, it's never easy considering how much money, heart, and effort we all invest in them.

I'm curious but how many others from this recent import are dead or still alive? These animals were not cheap. I recently purchased two of the female Mt Meru's that came in this shipment from a member needing space who had seen my long standing topic in the wanted ads for females. Nice guy. He did not have them long enough for them to develop some of the issues I am seeing which are all nutritional (MBD in one, both thin with coordination issues). I've only had them a week and they are on the mend but I'm glad I did not buy them directly from Europe for full price. At least this way I got to see them before handing over the money.

Is the male doing ok Laurie?

Yes my male is doing fine, as are all the other transvaalense males. All the females, except Paul's, are dead. I know I am upset, but as the others think, so do I, something wrong when all 4 females died in 6 months. It just doesn't feel right if you know what I mean.

I hope all goes well with your new imports. Let me know.

Sorry to hear Laurie. You know you did everything right, so it is just one of the things that you cannot blame yourself about. Glad your boy is doing well. RIP Sophie.

Sorry to hear this Laurie. I have not been a member here long but long enough to know you are passionate about you chams and their care!

Sorry for your loss, those transvaalense really are so awesome and I remember the high hopes when they arrived. So sad to hear there won't be any new breeding program from this batch. It is scant consolation to know that it wasn't any fault of yours. RIP Sophia

Laurie, I am so sad to hear this. It does seem odd that all the females but two didn't make it. Sounds rather like the way that baby Jacksons don't always get past 4 - 5 months old. I know that you did everything possible to keep her going, and I also know how gutting it is to lose them despite trying your very best for them.:( Sleep tight little Sophia. xx
