Good choice?! Help! Newbie!

Okay, I haven't posted anything on here before, so be gentle! I figured I really hadn't gone through the rite of passage as I don't have a cham right now. I lived in Hawaii for a few years (military) and had a few Jackson's there that made me fall in love with these gorgeous creatures, as we all have! But the panther has always been my favorite. Now that I'm an adult and actually have the income to purchase one of these bad boys, I've been doing some heavy research. As well as a little nesting :D

Here's the issue. I've scoured the internet and all the nearby dealers, pet shops, etc. And have come to a conclusion: They're expensive! I definitely want a baby >4 months, CB, ambilobe. And Voodoochameleons.com has "baby ambilobes" for 100. I emailed the owner and he said they're two months old. I haven't gotten pictures yet, but I just was wondering if maybe anyone has dealt with voodoo in the past? Pros? Cons? Eagerly waiting!

Hey welcome to the forums!! I have not delt with voodoo but I know people who have and I don't think they have had any problems. If you are getting a 2 month old I would highly recommend to focus your research on raising baby panthers. There is a ton of info here on the forums. Good luck! Post some pics and let us know how it goes if you get him! :D

Thank you! I really haven't seen anyone selling them under three months old which makes me a little weary. This site is definitely an amazing resource!

welcome to the forum this is a really good choice for a place to learn about caring for chams and you are right to be weiry abbout a 2 month old being sold

does not mean they are not a reputable company just imo most responsible breeders wait atleast three months minimum

Welcome to CF!
No need for a "rite of passage" to start posting.
If you feel like posting somthing, post it;)

I have never heard of VooDoo Chameleons.

I will say that finding the cheapest animal, isnt really the best way to go.
If you start with a good quality animal, you lessen the chance of having medical complications.
Most chameleons are sold at 3months old.

http://www.chameleoncompany.com/index.html Sells male ambilobes for $170. This is the cheapest price I have seen, and they have good reviews.
I would be very weary about paying less.

Again, welcome to CF!;)

Thank you very much :)

Three months has been the standard at most of the sources I've looked at. That's why two months raised a red flag. I'll definitely have to sleep on it and do some more homework!
