Goodbye Pumpkin... sweet girl

I don't like to post when my animals die but this was a special girl.

Pumpkin passed away this morning. She was just over 3 years old and my favorite. She will be missed. She is the mom to over 300 beautiful boys and girls many who are kept by members of this forum. If you have a Raoul baby this is mom.

All these animals are special to me but every now and then one really touches your heart. She was so sweet and had the best temperament. She will be missed and always remembered as my first female panther chameleon. I wanted to share some pictures of the first time she was gravid. It was the first time I ever saw a gravid panther chameleon and thought she was so beautiful. I was hooked but this girl did a lot to get me as much involved with reptiles as I am. She was a big producer never laying less than 40 eggs no matter the temp or the amount of food she was receiving. It always worried me and I tried so hard to reduce them. She had not laid a clutch for quite a few months and I had no plans to breed her again. She enjoyed her last days being pampered as a pet.

Love you pumpkin!

Sorry for your loss. These guys just pull your heart strings.

With 300 offspring her memory will live on. She was a beautiful girl.

Sorry for your loss bro. Its always so hard to lose any of them. But it really sucks when its a sweet natured favorite. Ive been there, pop the top on a cold one later and toast pumpkin...;)

Ryan, I’m sorry to hear about Pumpkin. You joined the forums just a few months after I did and I can remember seeing pictures of Pumpkin when you first got her. She was quite a lovely lady. I know she will be missed. I’m very sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear this. it breaks my heart knowing that one day this will happen to me with my first ambilobi female.

mine is also so sweet to me and is chilling with my male right now all cute as a button.

the good news is she gave so many people the pleasure of having a baby from her. you must be proud of her.

Awww, Ryan, so sorry you lost Pumpkin. She was a beautiful girly-cham. I know what you mean - they are all special, but some are more so than others. My dear Lily was my first and a very special girl, in the same way that Tommy is my first male and Amy my first cham I had from a baby. It's such an awful feeling to lose a special chameleon. I am thinking of you.

I am so sorry Ryan. She was absolutely beautiful. I don't know if the little Peach you got me is from a clutch of hers but I want you to know she is doing well and the whole family has fallen in love with her. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear about pumpkin ryan, glad to have a male an a female from her 2 of the 300 or so

So very sorry....

Well it sounds like you enjoyed her tremendously during her time with you so that is most important! :(

Sorry to hear of the loss of your speical cham. I only have the one and my husband says I treat it like my third child! Darn right! They become a part of the family like any other pet. She was a beautiful girl. RIP Pumpkin....
