I would suggest making it so he can not get so close to the light. However you did say you were getting a ficus to stick under it. Also change the red light to a regular house bulb. Measure temps and make sure his new basking spot is appropriate temps. You might have to play with some different wattage lights to get an ideal basking spot. The regular bulbs put off UVA which is good for the plants and also stimulates natural activity in reptiles such as appetite.

If I had one large chameleon it would definitely have its own room to hang out in

Its nice to have an explanation of why something is needed. Not just a pushy comment saying "GET A REGULAR HOUSE BULB NOW!!!" with no explanation Sometimes I wonder if half the people on here that make those types of comments even know the reasoning behind their answer

P.S: I dont get into some peoples business but dont get annoyed by Syn..She may be blunt or sound uncaring but in truth she does care overall..
She cares about chams and people on the forums....she may not show it all the time but thats "Syn" for you
