Got my grasshoppers today :)

They are so cute as babies the hoppers, then they get like this

Something about them (maybe the eyes) reminds me of mantids. So cute when tiny but then they get big enough and you can see how brutal they are, eating their prey alive . If they were just a bit bigger, we might be on their menu.

Just a heads up, Dean said he doesn’t heat nor cool his home in Southern California so “large” in warmer months will be large large whereas large in cooler months will look much smaller. I had to ask because the large I got in summer were way bigger than the larges I got in winter. He’s a good guy to deal with and the hoppers seem to grow quick here because it keep it a balmy 73 ambient temp lol.

Oh totally. I am trying REALLY hard to be a chameleon family so its not just me. My kid and hubby are interested, just not as much as I am. I could have chameleons in every room of my house and be thrilled, they probably wouldn't be

I got the smallest ones Dean offers. I figured I could grow them and try to breed them.

I currently have them in the enclosure that comes with the dreaded chameleon kit. I never did get rid of it and now I am glad that I didn’t.
