Gracilior Babies

These babies were hatched the end of August. If you look closely at the picture of the first male, I swear you can see his second set of horns starting. Or, maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part!

The second male pictured, third picture down (and below) seemed to have a bigger second pair. I was hoping it wasn't my imagination.

Completely agree! If it's your imagination, it's mine too!

I was lucky enough to give this little guy a new home, his horns are coming in quite nicely! He's driving me nuts hanging upside down on the screen most of the day while his sister just hangs out on her pothos. He did come down long enough to snack on some crickets and took a small hornworm off my hand. Thanks again for sending me a pair with a more mild temperment Janet, neither has fired up like the grouchy girl you posted. I will post pics every once in a while to keep you all updated!

They really like their light. I had him under Arcadia 12% bulbs. She was in a smaller cage with the light right top so it was only an Arcadia 6%. Eveb the newly hatched quads kept going up to the top to sun their bellies until I moved them into a cage with a 12% UVB. I moved them to a bigger cage. It makes me crazy!

You need to change your signature line!

Done! Good to know, I have them under a 5.0 so he must be searching for more I'll order some 12% Arcadias tonight.

Todd from Light Your Reptiles put a lot of thought into what lights to buy for the babies because most were housed in single cages that were narrow and sort, so there wasn't a lot of room for there to be differences in the light. They wanted to be a lot closer to the lights than Todd thought they would. Now, I would only buy a 12%. I've heard they don't like to bask in the sun, but that's not what I've found. Only one of mine will not go out in the sun, she will only expose a small bit of her body to the sun. Most love it. It seems to me that they are just trying to get more light when they go upside down on the ceiling like that--if you look at them, you can see they are basking and exposing as much belly as they can, at least that's what it looks like to me. The newly hatched babies made me crazy until I put them under a 12% and in a cage that wasn't so easy to get to the ceiling--I was pulling the off the ceiling all the time. That male you have was always right up under the 12%, only 6" or 7" away from the bulb. That went counter to everything I had been told about the babies.

I've noticed that my quad quad likes to bask at around 78F every morning but after that he makes camp under the mister and rarely sits right under the UVB. I just ordered some 12%'s from Todd, think i'll pick up a 10.0 locally tomorrow to attempt to get him off the roof while the arcadia's ship.
