grade school mistake.

Guys after doing my annual deep cleaning of my chameleons cage i put her were i usally do at the base of a tree right next to were i hose down the cage. You guessed it , She climbed all the way to the top of the tree ( which is at least 20 feat tall and filled with leaves and branches . this isnt the first time i lost her. but my back yard is literally a chameleons paradise and i was just wondering what would happen if she got left outside? my back yard is huge. i live in California, bay area. How long would she last out there? no birds ever come around except for the occasional humming bird and what not . But im probobly the worst owner on here. i cant believe this happend and i am so embarrased

don't worry things like this happen quite often my panther Cham made it to a tree in a different room when I put him on a tree in my bedroom while cleaning the cage. did you get her out of the tree?

The tree is out side !!! its 20 feet tall at least i tried climbing on the roof but it is its own jungle up there

first time she didnt get so high and i was able to grab her

if you have a ladder you can get in there and look and maybe get some neighbors to help you look as well. it is likely that she will survive the night as long as its not freezing cold and nothing comes and eats her. What species is she?

you could try putting a lot of bugs in the tree tomorrow and see if you see any tongue shooting in the tree.

Well I've never had this happen to me, but the safest way to get her down (that I can think of) would be to get a ladder and a fishing net from Walmart with the longest handle possible, and gently attempt to sneak the net under her and maybe she'll climb onto the net and if not scoop her into the net as gently as possible. Might seem a bit rough but it's all I've got. Hope this helps.

@Inky Get a ladder and climb up as high as you can. If you can't get her by pulling the limb to you or a net, you can carefully cut the branch she is on. Don't let the branch fall.

Lol I'd be outside cutting the whole tree down. No way my $400 is crawling away from that easy.
