Gravid Girls (Carpet Chameleons)

WOW!! Those girlie carpets are sooo beautiful! :D I'd like to get one myself one day!! Unfortunately, I don't think they are readily available in the UK:(

Ryan,

Gorgeous girl! How much do they each weigh?

Of the last 5 clutches I've had laid, 4 of them were in nests that were dug naturally in a nesting bucket. Be persistent. The only one that was scattered was infertile. Of course you know they don't always cooperate.

Here's a girl that laid a couple months ago, first in the nesting bucket, and next digging her nest.

Here's a pic I took a few hours ago of a girl ready to lay in a week or two. She displays the classic gravid coloration they are so well-known for. She has gained 7 grams in 10 days! Her sister is presumably gravid as well but I'm not sure if it will be a fertile clutch. I never witnessed copulation on that one and she isn't showing gravid coloration. She is unreceptive now, however, and they don't always display gravid coloration, even when the clutch is fertile. In fact, their mother didn't display gravid coloration at all when she was pregnant with the clutch they hatched from! ;)

They don't always do what we expect, haha.

A 5 gallon bucket works well. It's outside the cage. One decided to lay in her potted plant on one occasion as well.

Ryan, I'll take payment for that drawing in the form of a carpet chameleon... haha I'm kidding. Those have great colors. I want one. :)

Ive heard that using a heat mat underneath the laying bin increases the chances of them actually using it and not dropping.
