How can you tell if a female brev is gravid. The one that I have mated yesterday, but she also came kind of fat looking. Will already gravid females mate again? She has been crawling on the floor for a long time. Is she looking for a place to dig?
she looks kinda young to be gravid, but im not a professional, i have a female opanther about that size and shes all around the cage all day but i just think shes exploring her new surroundings, im sure someon e on here can help, in the mean time try and get some more pics!!!
Is it a wild caught?
If it is, most likely she is gravid.
Even if it a captive bred she was most likely kept in groups and bred anyways.
Dindy- this is a pygmy chameleon, Rieppeleon brevicaudatus I think. (pictures make it a little hard to tell.)
Those guys are like rabbits, and they breed nonstop.
Even if the female is already pregnant a male will stil mount her.
I've heard of a Temp. male breeding with a Female R. Brev.
Try doing a searh, type in brev I'm sure you will get dozens of threads on these guys.
-Good Luck, and be prepared for eggs and babies!
They have a short incubation time.
Ok
She hangs out in the front left corner on the ground most of the day.
She also looks very fatty.
I tried to pick her up to take a picture and feel for eggs.
I failed.
ive been really bad determining whether one from my group is gravid. What i usually do now is just take them into a dark room and get a flash light and shine it onto one side of her... if u can see the light on the otherside then shes probably not gravid. if u cant see the light she could be gravid... usually the only light that can shine thru is at the top since the eggs usually are in the belly area... u can sometimes make out the eggs too... Now i dont think this is the best way to determine whether a brev is gravid or not, but every time ive done it ive usually been right =P
