Great Grand Runt Boys (Photos)

I have the two little runt boys with me for a few weeks while I sweeten them up before taking them to live at the Zoo in Key West, FL. The boys are shy but starting to come around. My vet was here last week to check everyone out and he said they are looking good. They are gaining weight but still so tiny compared to the other babies. Here's a few pictures of them.

Your taking them to the zoo?
I didnt know zoos would accept animals raised by regular people.

Is it a privatly owned zoo?

What did you need to do to donate them, any forms and such?

Thank you Stan for your comment. I know the photos aren't that great but it's hard to keep the runts still. Everyday I can see improvements in them and they are much friendlier now than when the photos were made several days ago. :)

My chameleon specialist vet Dr. Mader, takes care of all the animals at the zoo and he suggested the idea. It's a small zoo/animal farm owned by Monroe County. It's located at the Monroe County Jail and the inmates with the best behavior are picked to work at the Zoo. The inmates all want to work at the Zoo and this encourages good behavior. The runts will be well taken care of there and will have a special habitat build for them when a little older and bigger and if they have any problems, they couldn't be in better hands than Dr. Mader.
Here's a link if you want to check them out: https://www.facebook.com/KeysAnimalFarm/timeline?ref=page_internal

I did not even know you had any babies with you still! They are small but beautiful. What do they weigh??? Have you seen the two chameleons Ginger Scott from House of Chameleons has that are runts?. They are over a year old and are about the size of her index finger! Must be some weird genetic thing I guess. Boomer is very small for a panther. I had him to the vet for his eye(he is doing fine) and he weighed 168 grams which is small for a panther I think. As long as they are healthy, I guess that is all that matters. I know you must be confident in the home they are going to, especially with Dr Mader as their vet, how could you go wrong!

Thank you Carol. I've only had the babies with me a couple of weeks. They have been with Dez since they hatched. Sunday they weighed 21.7 and 20.2 grams.

I'm glad that Boomer had a good vet visit. I think his weight is fine. Hendershot always weighed between 148 and 155 until he got old. Now I let him bulk up so when the time comes that he want eat anymore he'll have a bit of weight to fall back on. He weighed 180 this past Sunday.

That's great that the runts will have such a wonderful home. Thanks for the link - I liked them on Facebook and will have to try to get down there at some point :D

Thank you Michelle! It's a pretty neat little Zoo and the lady that's over it is just like us......an animal lover. :)

They are beautiful Jann, and what a wonderful zoo to be contributing to. It sounds like they will be in great hands!

Looks like I'll have another reason to take a trip to the keys! :D We should all take a trip down there to see them when they arrive. Is it only open to the public on every other Sunday? Looks like a cute place to spend the day.

I bet the "runts" will be a big hit! ;)

Thank you for your comment Michael! I believe they are open every Sunday afternoon but give them a call to make sure before you drive down there.

The runts will get allot of attention and special care there. They already have an adult female veiled that some one found crossing the road and donated her to the Zoo. :)
