growths on panther's eyes - need advice

I was basically given a one-year old ambanja male panther that has strange deposits/growths on both eyes. The previous owner told me his vet said they were calcium deposits. The growths are almost identical on each eye.
It is not an infection and he apparently has had them since a very young age.
He can feed on his own but takes a very long time to focus on his prey items because part of his vision is blocked by the growths. Otherwise, he is in good health, is a very nice color, and has a great temperament. Has anyone seen growths like this before? I have never heard of calcium deposits appearing on the eye turrets of chameleons before. He is originally from one of the most reputable breeders in the country. Does anyone know if this could be genetic and passed on to future offspring? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like some type of deposit under the eyelid in the tissue around the eye orbit itself. Poor little guy. If it was calcium I wonder if it would show up brightly on an xray? If it doesn't, maybe that might give the vet other possibilities?

growths on panther's eyes

I haven't had the "calcium deposit" diagnosis confirmed but I seriously doubt if that is the case. I have been keeping a variety of chameleon species on and off for over 15 years and haven't seen growths like these before, especially ones that are so symmetrical. They are almost identical on each eye. I used to keep parrots and there is a papilloma (spelling?) virus in birds that will cause warty growths. Does anyone know if reptiles are also susceptible to viral growths? It looks like they could possibly be removed surgically although they are right on the eye turret.

growths on panther's eyes

I was told the original breeder was from California. I am not real comfortable divulging the name on the forum because they are highly reputable and great people to deal with. I will PM you with the information that the original owner provided for me. He said the panther had these growths when he got him. I am not sure if he actually paid for the animal or if it was given to him for free due to the imperfection.

Can you move them by any chance? I had the ones in my chameleons eye taken out. I also did do a recording and a little documentary but had a few inappropriate words in the video and wont post it until I learn how to take the sound off. The people I got my male from were one of the friendliest and best breeders I know of they are incredible and very reputable breeders. I don't think these problems have anything to do with incorrect husbandry.

I am assuming that a vet removed them surgically, right? Did he say what type of growth/deposit they were? I sent you a PM with the breeder's name and I would be curious to know if both panthers are from the breeder. Did your panther have any recurrence of the eye growths after they were removed?

bumps on turrets

My Panther has the exact same bumps. They too are identical bilat. and I also bought him from a reputable breeder in California about a yr ago. Please let me know how to PM you???

surgery

My panther had surgery on his turets yesterday and had the lumps removed, they were chemical deposits -sent out for biopsy. My cham is doing great, eating and all. With the lumps his aim was so bad that, I was affraid that soon he would need a knife and fork to eat his meals. Thankful for credit cards.
