Gular Edema?

Occassionally Leopold has what looks like Gular edema between his front legs, it looks like fluid buildup and feels like fluid or fat, but then it goes away again so i have no clue. Could it just be fat or skin? I will try to get a picture next time it shows up. It's only a small lump but when I looked up gular edema there was a picture that looked like it. If it is, what should I do? I give the typical veiled dusting schedule and feed my roaches oranges, carrots, apples, pears, and oats, plus a scrap or two of fruits and veggies I use for myself. It may be because for the past 2 months I tried to remember what supplement I gave last? I have a calendar again that I go by now. He has had it for a while now and it's just worrying me. It hasn't really gotten any bigger or worse.

Try stopping all supplements for a week and then reduce the amount after that (dust lighter or dust less feeders) Also nautral sun is good for edema.

OKay. But right now it is mid winter and below zero so i don't think he's going to be getting much natural sun anytime soon. I also just got a new UVB light, the other one was a year old, could that be it? It was just too old and not working well anymore?

UVB bulbs steadily decrease naturally in how much UVB is given off over time even though the bulb will continue to emit light. If you don't have a UVB meter to know for sure how much UVB the bulb is providing then it's recommended to change them at least every 6 months because it's not uncommon for them to not be producing enough UVB after about 6 months of use, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I don't have a meter myself so I change them every 6 months and after this last change all of my chams immediately basked much more often under the new bulbs - because the new bulbs were giving off so much more UVB than the old ones. They can tell.

i would reduce your vitamin supplements, what brand are you using? maybe you need to be dusting once every 2 weeks, or once a month. also becarful when supplementing too often and gutloading with too many items high in vitamin A. get plenty of fluids into him via pipette.

I agree with cutting back on the supplement and what kind of water do you use? Camille use to have gular edema before we got the RO system now she never has it anymore.
