gut load

hey everyone--has anyone tried this gut load sold at lllreptile.com? Is this stuff good enough to use as my only gut load for my crix? Thanks!!

Have not tried it. Cant see any ingredient details. I worry about what "Intense protein and vitamins" means.

Anyhow you will still need to provide a source of hydration, which in my opinion is best done through fruit and vegetables. which means you are essentially going to be gutloading anyhow without buying premade stuff

Hey Sandra--I know, since they don't show the ingredients it makes it a tough buy. I'll have to pass unless someone has already used it and knows what it has in it.

repashy ilf

crude protein 20%, crude fat 3.5%, crude fiber max. 10%, moisture max 8%, ash max. 8%, calcium min. 9.5%-max10.5%, phosphorus max..7%, vitamin d-3 min 20,000 IU/kilo, vitamin A 80,00 IU/kilo /// ingredients; alfalfa leaf meal, defatted wheat germ meal, hempseed meal, brewers yeast, bee pollen, whey protein isolate (source isolated protein), calcium carbonate, fig powder, dicalcium phosphate, yeast culture, spirulina algae, rose hips powder, kelp meal, haemotococcus algae, marigold extract, yucca extract, natural mixed tocopherols (as a preservative), vitamin A acetate, D-activated sterol (source of vitamin D-3)/ alan repashy seems to be sort of protective as to his ingredients, the only distributor i have ever seen that posted the ingredients or nutritional analysis no longer carries his products, it seems as though many of the people who carry his products only do so for a limited time ?, make of it what you will, now you know whats in INSECT LOADING FORMULA

in my opinion Repashy is the bomb they put alot of good stuff in it just hard to find local then after shipping its mor expensive I like nature zone total bites someday I need to get some cricket crack.

lol i havnt heard "tha bomb" in soo long, haha thanks for the memories dude.

buy some cricket crack now from Steve, if he has some left. its cheap and definitely worth the little money it costs to get it. :)

It blows my mind that nobody uses Zeiglers Monster Hi-Cal cricket diet, this stuff is "tha bomb". If any of you guys out there have read "the panther chameleon" by Gary Ferguson, you should be using this stuff. After I read that book I jumped on the Zeiglers diet. Ferguson knows best! I trust what he says. Check It Out!

thanks! I see vitamin A acetate and that means its not something I would likley use.

in my estimation, Dr gary ferguson is the quintisential guru of cham supplementation , if its something he recomends, then i am on board 100% -just for the record, dr. gf recomends some level of vitamin A acetate. not to contradict myself, but im not a big fan of preformed vitamin A either. ( but i do provide some in reduced qtys, just in case and in part because dr. gf says so)

Any links to some good prices on this stuff?

Yea this stuff can be hard to get. I by it by the case at reptile shows. Theres usually a Zeiglers vendor set up at the better shows. Average cost is about $5 a 14oz can. Some petsmarts carry it.

From that lilnk:

"Why feed MonsterDiets™ Cricket food?
High calcium content eliminates the need to dust with messy mineral supplements.
More economical than diets with higher water content.
Provides beneficial vitamins and minerals to insect eating pets fed crickets.
Supplemented with Vitamin D3 to help compensate for limited natural light exposure when fed to insect eating pets. However, additional UV light is still recommended for reptiles.
Finely ground to increase intake by crickets of all sizes including pinheads.
All natural diet. Contains no artificial flavors or colors."

Would you really stop dusting with calcium if you're using this gut load?
