Ok so I am wondering what everyone uses for gutload mix out there. right now I am using Cricket Crack as a base and then adding a few things to it. I have been working on a recipe to replace the cricket crack but not there yet.

My dry mix is as follows

3 lbs cricket crack
1/2 cup Whole flaxseed meal
2 cups ground natural oats
1/8 cup ground unsalted sunflower seeds
3 cups rice baby cereal
1 cup soy flour
2 cups ground grape nuts
3 cups dry nonfat milk
2 cups ground alfalafa pellets
2 cups ground dried hibiscus flowers
2 cups dried hibiscus buds
1/2 cup chlorella algea powder
1/2 cup spiruline algea powder
1/2 cup carrot powder
1/2 cup ground dried sea kelp
1/2 cup Astaxanthin powder
1/2 cup Marigold powder
1/2 cup bee pollen powder
1/2 cup dried egg yolk
1 cup dried coconut

Let me know what you all think, any sugestions, additions ideas.
I also have a wet mix and I use Nature Zones Total bites as well.

Thank you for the response. My wet mix is what I very as far as diet is concerned, as far as this dry mix is concerned the actual content of most of these products is going to very enough that I keep its known mix consistent. The milk and the egg are rather low in proportion to the total mass of everything else but in truth probably not that necessary for feeding with all of the other items in the mix. Both of those are leftovers from my old recipe which came from the adcham website. As far as the marigold it is really high in carotenoids of different variety than those found in the other products found on this list. It also has a mild anti fungal/viral/microbial facet to it that I feel helps with keeping my chams digestive tracts in good order. There are a lot of other supposed impacts from it in the herbal community but I have yet to find any real conclusive scientific evidence of them. My main reason for using them is for the carotenoid contents. What would you recommend for egg and dry milk usage? And what benefit does the cranberry powder give for chams? Your blog is really good by the way.

The adcham recipe was very popular. If its working for you, continue to use the milk and egg. :) Although half as much might be sufficient? I guess it depends why you are using it. I also wonder at the large amount of oats, rice cereal and soy flour. Those seem high to me. You might consider increasing the kelp - that stuff is great. But these are just my uninformed thoughts - I am not a lizard nutrition expert.

Interesting! thanks! I'll look into a bit more. Not sure Ive ever seen it for sale - but then again I've not looked. LOL

Thanks :) The cranberry powder supposedly provides omega 3 (from the seeds - the whole dried berry is used in making the powder), flavonoids, vit c, tannin, maganese, vit K, ... and i thought it might be tasty, thus enticing the crickets to eat more. :) It hasnt hurt, anyhow. Been adding it to my dry mix for about a year.
