Habamist?

Hey guys, so im getting all my stuff for my baby yemens enclosure, and at first i thought a habamist was a must, it was incredible, but as im looking at it and looking at it and thinking about it, i start to really think, do I really need it, i mean, I do go to school in the day but can i not heavily mist in the morning at around 7 and then 8:30? And then from 4 on i cam mist whenever, but i just really want to know if i really need it, i dont want to order it off LLL because i have already placed an order but it could be postponed and i dont want to have to have the hassle of adding into my order, and i dont want to have to have it shipped again, at my reptile store, the only place around me that sells them they are 99.99, so please help me out.

First off, i *think* Habbamist is the one people say is useless. Secondly, there are tons of DIY misters available ont his site. Use the search bar. Thirdly, you can use a dripper as well. You can make one yourself for a few bucks or a buy one (Little Dripper). *i* prefer the make it yourself because not only is it cheaper, its better. Every little dripper Ive owned has not only dripped but straight up leaked..badly. ;)

Ever considered getting a glass of water, putting it in the freezer overnight and then placing the resulting ice cube onto the mesh top of your viv? it will produce a steady(ish) drip of water for a fair while, and whats better is that this method is free?!

Thats an interesting thing..Never thought of that..

just get a plastic bottle..can be a mcd's cup or a juice bottle..doesnt matter.. Fill with water and poke a hole in the bottom with a needle. MIGHT have to wiggle it around just to make a tiny smidge bigger so that it will register the water and start dripping.. Place on top of viv, and whala, instant dripper..

I'd pick a dripper over that because a chameleon would prefer water that isn't cold.

And as for the Habba...I wouldn't buy it. I have one, but only because a friend gave me theirs for free. It can only mist for a max of 1 minute at a time and not very well at that. Chameleons should be misted for several minutes I believe, as it can take that long for the misting to trigger their drinking impulse. Habba sucks ;)

People used to use ice cube on a mesh top method.

But, it is not that effective.
The water is too cold for chameleons' liking.

I don't have a cham but cresteds have the same humidity level. I use a pump spray bottle. It's meant for plant chemicals. I used to use the hand trigger type like windex bottles and it took forever but this thing works 100 times better. I usually have the humidity drop really fast on me from 70-80 to 40 after a few hours and once I started using this it'd stay up way longer since it's a proper misting. It was $7 at home depot.
