Hello, I have been taking care of this wonderful animal for 2 weeks. Veiled chameleon, its main food is crickets, there are 3 of the recommended live flowers, there is a fogging system, and drops every 15 seconds. They couldn't tell me the girl's age in the store. I expect any comments about it and the habitat. For the first time I take care of such an animal and all advice is welcome. And last but not least, thank you for the reception

Welcome to the group. Most of your setup looks ok but you have an issue with your lighting. You'll need at TH50 linear bulb/lighting system. We have care sheets listed under the Resources tab which will answer a lot of your questions and show you the proper lighting and where to get it. Also, you Chameleon looks to be around 3 months old - approximately. I hope this helps.

Hi and welcome to the forum. :) Chameleons are amazing creatures and there is a lot to learn about them. I do see a couple of improvements that you should make, which leads me to believe that there may be others that aren’t visible. If you would like to answer the following questions, a forum member can help to find any changes that need to be made, so that you give your beautiful girl a long healthy life.

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

Welcome to the forum and the world of chameleons!

I don't know if you're aware of it but female veiled chameleons produce infertile eggs like chickens do...without having mated...so once she gets her mature colors it's important to have an egglaying bin in the cage at all times....and it's important not to overfeed her.

This is OK?
