Hand feeding?

So the more I read it seems the less I know. Every time people talk about building trust with their chams, they always mention hand feeding. What’s the best way to go about that, I’ve tried to hold a cricket on my flat palm but my Cham seems uninterested, and won’t take it. The crickets also have a tendency to hop away so is there a better way to do it?

Lol once again I’m going through the same thing. I was gonna start a post about it today but I got busy with work so I didn’t.. you beat me to it :p

Gonna follow the thread cuz I’m interested in what people have to say. Mine is so shy he wont even eat in front of people. If he grabs a cricket and I walk in the room, he’ll freeze with the thing half out of his mouth and not move at all till I leave the room again. So obviously hand feeding is being virtually impossible for me right now :ROFLMAO:

I did however read that its good to start by just making sure the chameleon sees your hand every time you drop food in there. Like to make sure that he sees that you’re doing is putting food in there so he’ll eventually associate your hand with food. Also, some people take the back legs off the cricket so they dont jump but I feel bad doing that lol, so instead I try to do the whole hand feeding thing with mealworms or superworms. Still hasn’t worked but at least it’s easier to keep on your hand lol

Lol, I guess great minds think alike. I’ve found that just putting your hand in the cage without getting to close to him, or moving around too much helps him get used to you.
