Handling

I have a juvenile veiled chameleon that I've only had for a day but whenever i open the cage or sometimes even just look at him, he gets terrified. He stops moving and will just stare at me, I assume it's because he is getting adjusted to his new environment but I just want to be sure that it's normal. Also I tried just presenting my hand to him, in no way was I trying to touch him and he bit me (didn't hurt because he's tiny) but I'm just hoping he won't stay aggressive. Also he isn't eating very much, the first day he didn't eat at all but today he ate about 5 Wax worms, didn't touch the meal worms. Which is weird because the wax worms are a lot bigger than the meal ones.

Also when he moves throughout his cage he moves slowly and stutters.

You shouldn't be opening the cage and reaching around in there if he's only been there a few days. Cover his cage with a thin sheet so nothing can look at him and let him get used to his cage. Then you can take the sheet off and give him so more time to get used to the area and maybe try some hand feelings. Then after a couple of weeks leave his cage door open and put a small tree outside of his enclosure. Once he climbs out of his cage into that tree, then try to approach him. Also, try not to look at him for the first week, especially if it's scaring him.

Also how many worms should he be eating a day?
