Handling

I know some Chameleons don't care to be handled. My female veiled is still pretty young, 4 months. She will let us hand feed and my husband has handled her once and she didn't seem to mind. I'd love to get her more comfortable with us so we can take her out. Especially once it warms up! Any tips on how to handle your Chams without scaring them or making them mad? She's never puffed up or hissed at me. She just stares at my hand or the vine I have to try and lure her out as of to say "NOPE." ha-ha She has come out willingly once but that's it so far.

Be patient and take it slow while avoiding sudden movements. You can always start off by seeing if she will climb onto a stick and then onto your hand. If she has already accepted hand feeding, I would do that and see if she'll climb onto your other hand while chasing after the feeder. Once she is on your hand, giving her a treat will help her associate your hand with good things. You can give her favorite treat, let her free range, or even give her some natural sun time. The most important thing is to never grab or force her to do anything. I think your little girl will eventually come around since she has already accepted hand feeding
