so i tried picking my chameleon up off my shoulder with the chin thing and that worked but after i started to pet his chin a little more he tried to run how do i get him to like me i got him a week ago? and whenever i take him out to handle he tends to turn a bright green vs. in his cage he turns more of a dark green/light brown any tips on how i get him to like his cage a little more or should i just handle him more often?

He's probably still adjusting to you and his environment. I would recommend coaxing your cham with a cricket or other feeder. I gave Pascal two weeks to adapt to his new environment with me before I got into handling him. Now I am handling him at least once or twice per week. The first time I handled him, he definitely wanted to go back in his terrarium. The second time was a lot easier and he seemed to be more relaxed. Not exactly calm but he hasn't changed colors or showed any other signs of aggression so IMO I think it's going well. However, I am new to chameleons and still learning!

Not sure what type you have. But my veilds are happy to climb on me, but one rule no touching! Mine hate that. I can get right next to my female and she is fine. One finger and she is p***ed.

And just too add. My male has had "issues" not health and thus gets handled often. At this point I can just pick him up. Can't touch the girl though.
