Hanging on the roof

i have a plant light at the top of my cage that Rafiki seems to like hanging under.

its really bright, i can't look at it without hurting my vision! should i be worried about him hanging out under it?

Is it his heat lamp hes hanging under, the UVB bulb or a fluorescent bulb you have solely for your plant inside of his cage???? Depending on the UVB bulb, it can either be totally ok as they don't produce too much heat, or if it is a compact bulb, it could potentially blind him due to the intense compactness of the light source it emits. If it's his heat lamp, and it is directly on top of the cage, Id raise it verryyyy soon! Like NOW soon because it can easily be 120-130 degrees directly under the bulb and Chameleons don't know they're getting burnt but can easily become so. If it is just a fluorescent plant light then I am not too sure if it is harmful for him. : / Depending on how bright it really is, im sure it can't be good for his eyes. Does he seem to keep one or both eyes closed when he's under it???

Right, we need to know exactly what type of light it is. Look on the bulb, either on the ends or the top for any info printed on the glass.

A tube fluorescent (Vitalite, Growlite, ReptiSun 5.0, etc) shouldn't be harmful. They are not THAT intense. An incandescent house light bulb, a heat spot light, or "basking bulb" could cause burns if he gets too close for too long. Ironically, chams don't have very good heat sensors in their skin and can be burned. A compact fluorescent (coil bulb) could damage his vision depending on what type of bulb it is.

My bulb is a Slyvannia CFL 60w replacement using only 13w, 800 lumens. sorry for not mentioning that lol.
