I found some at a local flower store in my town and they look awesome, i put them on my window sill and they are blooming like crazy. Anyways i put one of them in my new enclosure, was curious if anyone has had any luck with this?
I'm not sure if petunias are on the safe plant list. I've wanted to put some in my terrarium because they do so well. As you can tell by having them in the window, they love lots of light and water, which sounds like it would do well in our brightly lit terrariums.
I'm sure you "deadhead" the petunia, picking off the dead blooms from the stem, which encourages growth. I of course have petunias in my yard every year. Have you noticed when you deadhead the flowers, that your fingers get a bit sticky? Since Chameleons rub their eyes on everything, and some eat vegetation, I would just keep a close watch on your chams activity and his/her eyes. Just my observation from keeping these flowers. There are plenty of other flowering plants you can use, just to be on the safe side.
I think FLchams website is the one with the safe plant list. I'm in Canada and don't frequent U.S. sites very often
Your fingers get sticky when you pull the flowers off, from the actual flower.
The only issue with petunias are that they don't require much water, so it's hard not to drown them. Along with that, they need a fair bit of light, otherwise they don't grow as well.
