Has anyone had their tonsils and adenoids out?
I'm just curious how bad it felt after because its something I'm going to have to look into and talk to the Dr about tomorrow.

I have a bad record or strep and sinus infections and it really sucks bc they have causes so much trouble and make me miserable :(

When you got yours out what happened? Like how bad did it hurt and for how long? Could you breathe better afterwards?

My little sister got her adenoids out and they were ginormous. She was I think 6 months old and her adenoids were the size of a mans thumb. He face was different afterwards too. And I could see up her nose he he

That's what I've heard too! :( but I'm trying to weigh if it will hurt more to take them out or more to keep getting sick.. or knowing my luck, get them out and go through that pain and still get sick or something go wrong :(

Just have them removed, its just temporary if it is painful at all.

Its not going to kill you.

Much better than to keep suffering through life, just to have them out later anyhow.

Its just a bit of discomfort, no big deal...

You make good sense. I am still waiting for the Dr to call back. I'm such a wimp when it comes to my throat lol.

My doctor when I was a kid wants them out but we moved and the new pediatrician was a jerk and it never happened.

I had mine out when I was 4, so that was about, cough, cough, 28 years ago, and my memory isn't that great. According to my Mom I'd get terrible sore throats due to the tonsils, constantly through the winter. Since I'd had them removed I rarely get a sore throat, so I'd really consider it. I think the pain/discomfort lasted about 5 days or so, but that was the early '80s, so I'm thinking they probably have better drugs out now to help you cope :D

That sounds like me! My throat kills randomly throughout the year for like a week at a time. My boyfriend said they wouldn't give me drugs! aside from.being chicken, I'm scared of the pain lol.

I had my tonsils and adnoids removed. Like everthing, no pain, no gain. Nothing good is easy. You will be fine and they will give you Tylenol 3 which will probably make you sleep. After having them removed, the tonsilitus stopped, but I still get strep once a year. Get it over with now, the older you get the worse the surgery is.

I get sore throats all the time too. I asked my doctor a few years ago and he said they don't like to remove tonsils so easily now. Ugh...LMK how your appointment goes. I'd rather suffer a week of pain from surgery than a lifetime of sore throats multiple times a year.

I've had mine out.it was a little painful but no worse than suffering with inflamed to.sold a couple of times ,a year.that was about ten years, ago now and I haven't had a sore throat since.
Ps the stories about getting ice cream after are not true the first thing I was given was corn flakes

I've not had mine out but when I worked in ENT a long time ago I remember patients saying that the worst thing about it was having to eat toast before they could be discharged.:D not sure if things have changed.:)

Can't remember if it happened, but my Mom swears that the following morning they tried giving me orange juice, but she took it away to save my poor throat. I'm thinking that you'll get Tylenol 3 for the pain - how did your appointment go?

I didn't get in. The drs office didn't call back so I called 2x and the nurse was like "oh the computers went done" and then said she'd call back and didn't till like 6.
But I'm going to call tomorrow. I actually was thinking about it and maybe my tonsils are bigger then I thought.

Recently (like for a couple months now) I have trouble swallowing, anything from water to grapes or steak. Andy throat gets really dry and my gag reflex kicks in. I need to write this stuff down..

Omgsh what?!? I can't even eat toast regularly!! Lol. Bread is actually one of the triggers for me to not be able to swallow...

I hope they take them. I can't swallow hardly anything. I choke on literally everything. I would love the sleepy part lol.

I think he will consider it for me if my mom and dad are right. It would be nice to be able to swallow, unless its cause by something else..
