Hey guys, as you may have assumed from the title of this thread my 5 month old female veiled hasn't gone to the bathroom in 3 days. Earlier this month i had thought she was pregnant and gave her a laying bin in her enclosure. Turned out she was not but she had eaten some of the sand. A day later she had pooped out a massive amount of sand along with the normal fecal matter. The next day she did not poop so i misted her with warm water heavily that day and the next day she pooped a smaller amount of sand. Now she has not pooped for 3 days and i've tripled the amount i mist her and still nothing. I am worried she is impacted, so i am going to try mineral oil today and see if that helps to get things moving. Any advice would be appreciated. Unfortunately i am not at home on my pc and cannot fill the forum out for how to ask for help. Was wondering if it is normal for no poop in 3 days and if not what other methods besides the mineral oil i can use to ease her through this.

I am not sure...

My 8 month old jacksons chamelon hasnt pooped in a while either, so i dont know if its normal or not. She usually poops about 3 or more times a week. But ive noticed she hasnt pooped for about a week now. Ive had her for only about 3months now, so i dont know much.... How much are you feeding your chameleon? Maybie that has something to do with it, or just the fact that it ate sand... sorry i couldnt be much help.

If it wasnt for the sand I would say dont worry because 3 days is normal sometimes 5 or a week it really depends on how much and what you feed and water your cham. You are doing the right thing by uping the water. Has your chameleon been eating? Is it possible that the sand cleaned her out and she just has no fecal matter yet? At 5 months I would say pooping 3 times a week is normal for a healthy vieled. Just to give you a baseline.

ive had that happen before. i initially thought he was constipated but not. i have a panther who never likes to poop in his cage. weird. he will hold it for days sometimes. he likes to go in the shower or free range. good for keeping a clean enclosure i guess.

3 days isn't very long. I've had chams go over a week even with increased misting (the worst was a newly arrived wc verrucosus who held it for 10 days...just about killed ME). I also consider mineral oil a not-too-great invasive option at this point. Sometimes a bit of "good" stress can loosen things up. Try carrying your cham to a sunny bright warm window and free ranging her for an hour or so on a houseplant. The excitement of a new spot, a different view and some exercise helps. Also give her soft bodied feeders, check her cage humidity and raise it too.

a warm misting usually does the trick for me. It is like instant laxative!! Put hot water in the misting bottle. It will spra out warm. Check it on yourself first to make sure it is not too hot.

it's different w/ all my chams. some go every day and others go every 3-5 days. but i'll say this about the ones that hold it for a few days...they drop LOGS!!!

So true. My cham dropped a log so huge, I thought it was a huge dubia roach coming out! Also, all the advice is correct on the amount of days in between.
