Hatchling's eye deformed

This poor little guy hatched out about a week ago with one giant eye. I've separated him from the others to lessen stress but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I gave him a tiny silkworm and he tried for it twice and missed then gave up. S/he has fruit fly's but I've never seen it eat any. Anyone ever seen this or have any suggestions on what I can do?

thats so sad! you could try syringe feeding, but he might be too small. he might not make it tho unless he learns how to eat fast. i know some chameleons have only one eye and make it, but he seems to small to get the eye removed. i hope he does learn how tho. good luck :)

Yeah he's definitely too small to syringe feed. It is so sad:( He's looks at me with such a sweet look as to if say "help me".

Can you put the tiny silkies in his mouth when he goes for them? That would at least buy him time to learn on his own.

sure hope this little one makes it..im the type that if i see ANYTHING with a deformity or in need of any help i will try to the end of my days to help it(not always good lol) poor baby, best wishes for baby and you:)

I am the same way! It's really bad. I am such a bleeding heart. Thus why I got my cham, Kink. He had these sad eyes I just couldnt say no.

Thank you all for the thoughts. He's just so small getting anything in it's mouth would almost be impossible. I'll just hope for the best and let nature take it's course.

It's an Easter miracle! I just saw him eat 2 fruitfly's and he tried for a third:) I guess this means s/he is going to make it. This will be interesting to see him mature with his eye like it is. S/he needs a name, any suggestions?

oh yay! this is great news!!:D way to go little one:) a name suggestion "peekers" lol..im so glad baby is doing better and eating, this will def make it grow and keep its strength up:)
