having problems with my new mistking

I have my reservoir below my pump and it does fine once it's primed, I do use RO water now because tap water clogged my nozzles/zip drip valve.

Have you cleaned the zip drip valve (or even tried it with out it )? Also try priming it.

I did find this system on ebay, does this look like a good one in your opinion? I have no clue on how to use these and just want to make sure that all the parts I would need are illustrated there

oh ok! thanks for letting me know how that works :) I was wondering, using filtered/bottled water can run up expenssive around here, do you think if I treat the water with reptile water conditioner, (the same way you would to make it softer/safer for reptiles to drink) think that could work in preventing calcium deposits and clogging in my tubes? ( trying to think cheaper alternatives to bottled water since I have a melleri and they need a lot more water from what I've been reading online:confused:

i didn't read through ALL of the posts, so sorry if this is a repeat...but i thot about doing the same thing, with the water conditioner, but if you read the labels on almost all of them, they actually "add" calcium to the water, so i would avoid that if you're wanting to cut down on calcium build up. i've looked at a few under the sink RO tanks, and if we weren't making an international move and having to sell our chams, i think it'd be worth the investment...not just for your chams but you and family and any other pets you may have....found a few right around $100.....

So far I've just been buying mine, most places it's fairly cheap if you fill your own bottle. But if I wasn't traveling I would probably invest in a RO system.

there are a lot of people here that do have them, so hopefully
Someone will have some info for you.

Just got back from an expo in Toronto. Sorry for the short email reply. I was on my phone between customers and it was a bit busy show. Can you email me again and let me know if you're still having problems. Few photos of your setup would help too.

So you are saying that mistking's pump is not able to mist properly because the cage is 3 feet above? LOL yeah definately not buying a mistking then.

Nope, you could probably have your cage 50 feet high and the pump and reservoir on the floor and it should still mist. Height of the nozzles does not matter. I have a customer that has an ultimate system in the basement and they ran the lines up to 2nd floor and they still get mist.

I always recommend having the reservoir on the ground and the pump on the ground or even higher than the pump in case people run dry and loose the prime. If gravity is feeding the water to the pump you'll always re-prime automagically. If your pump is higher than the reservoir the pump will reprime itself too, but not always. Check valves in the nozzles can prevent it from doing it on its own. If you can re-prime the pump on your own, then you're good to go. If you run dry often, then your life would get easier if you'd place the pump on the ground.

here's some pics of the setup, maybe someone can spot what I'm doing wrong, from one of the pics you can see how it's barely fizzling water at all:(
