well, as most of you know, i got my first ever jackson chameleon yesterday and he was really stressed. but as soon as i turned the dripper on this morning, i caught him secretly slurping the drops on his face, AND i got him to eat 8 crickets out of the cup! caught 3 on video ;) must have been hungry, haha.

heres the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOjmqC7mX3E&feature=youtu.be

there WAS music, but they disabled it due to copyright -.- even though i bought the song..

a stress reliever (for my cham) is putting her free ranged. buy a plant (i use a ficus about 3.8 feet tall, with lots of long and sturdy branches) and put him/her in it, it is very unlikely that they will "escape" the tree, and VERY VERY unlikely that he/she will not like the tree or whatever plant you put. my chameleon is always bright green and super happy in her tree, and i NEVER put her in her cage (unless i must). it can also be healthier in some cases. but be certain that is you do this you MUST know the temp. the humidity, and you must also still mist. but once you get used to it, there is nothing hard, it just becomes a daily routine

Looks like you are doing a great job Amanda. Congrats and keep it up!!

Any reason you cut the top of the cup? Just saying because it looks sharp ,if he were to ever try to hold it with his hands/feet to get a better foothold to get to the feeders it may cause harm or discomfort.

i have to find a shorter cup, this one was very deep and i was afraid he couldnt reach the bottom :/

You'd be suprised. lol

I have had my Chams reach feeders almost their body lenght away. But im all for making things easy for my guys.

Linus Pickles is looking great Amanda! Has he started basking at all yet?

sadly, no, he is still hanging out on one of his pothos vines, in about the middle of his cage, under the dripper :p wish he would bask...i tried to put my hand under his chin and coax him on to move him into his basking spot, but he shied away real fast, so i let him be :/

find the cham!!!!! look for his curly tail :p mid cage, on his pothos vine, the longest light green vine..this is where he has been for 24 hours...

Top right corner of the red tub! :p

good job! now is it okay for him to be there that long? again, he has plenty of room to bask and such, but he hasnt really moved form that spot :/ i was expecting him to at least get a little curious and explore his territory boundries, but nope...

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't chameleon tongues around 3 times the length of their body?

I believe it is 1.5 times the length of their body.

Yeah its fine, He may take even a week to really start moving around and get used to his new home.:)

checked on him and he still hasnt moved :/ i caught him asleep though and his lights were still on, granted he is covered up by the leaves..but still... it also looks like one of his turrets are miscolored, it almost looked black when i woke him up from his sleep, and when i took pics earlier, it turned up gray, even though it didnt really look like it in person..
