He hates being misted!!

Most keepers use the 24 X 24 X48. That is pretty standard and use the 5.0.
I think you will get some negative feedback here on using the 10.0. Many of us have had great success with our chams using the 5.0.

As i said we are pretty new at this but tried to do as much research as possible. We used this link http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/linear_fluorescent_bulbs.php to make our lighting choices and when we read the packaging of the 5.0 it stated that the mesh cuts about 50% of the rays. In what way could the 10.0 be harmful for him?

It may or may not harm him, the same as a coil bulb may or may not cause eye problems. I have used the linear 5.0 and all the breeders as well as members that I have spoken to have recommended the 5.0. Unless you already have the fixture or lights and can't return them I wouldn't recommend the 10. I kept my beardies under them and they are intense!

i was almost thinking maybe my 5.0 wasnt enough either. its only two months old and my jacksons has been spending alot of time perched high up right underneath the bulb. he didnt really start this till i took him outside last saturday and he loved the natural sunrays. maybe hes trying to tell me something.

So here are some more pics of the enclosure and him...

your set up looks very nice. I am only going on what the general consensus is here on the forum with the 5.0 and the success we have all had in keeping a healthy chameleon. I bought my cham from a breeder who has been selling chameleons for over 20 years. The reptisun 5.0 is the best thing on the market according to her. That is what she sold me with my set up. I am not positive but the 10.0 may just be too much UVB. I know that glass cuts out the UVB rays but I have never heard of screen cutting it out, maybe very little, but especially not 50% or I think we would all be in trouble here with our set ups. I am just trying to say if you are dealing with a public who has had success with a certain product then why would not follow suit? Maybe someone else can chime in here on the effects of the 10.0 v. 5.0. We are all here to try and help one another. Not trying to be nasty, just want you to have a healthy, happy chameleon as I am sure you do too.

thanks carol, as i said we appreciate all feedback, this forum is a great help. the next bulb we buy will be a 5.0. regarding the mesh cutting the rays 50%, it actually says so on the bulb packaging...

No problem. That is interesting that it says that on the package. I never read mine! I was always told that UVB can pass through screen but not glass.
