Heat at night and worms

OK so now I'm confused. I thought I had this right but now I don't think I do :( I bought a red light so my panther chameleon would have heat at night but now I read it's ok to drop to room temp? The red bulb gives off light, does it keep him from sleeping? The past 2 mornings I found him crouched on the bottom corner of the cage. Also, it is OK that he's just getting crickets right now. I haven't ordered any silk worms yet. Help!

As long as it doesn't go below 50, temperature drops are beneficial to your chameleon. The fact that he's in a bottom corner is probably a sign the light is preventing him from sleeping normally. If it goes below 50, a ceramic heater that doesn't give off light is a good solution.

Welcome , They do not need lights at night . They need a drop in temps . You will learn so much here . You want to feed earlier in day so he /she can digest . Make sure you have appropriate supplements .

So everyone else has already told you this I'm just also going to also confirm that light at night is no good they never need alot of heat period even the basking spot should stay around 85 or a little lower for sum the only time heat at night is a good idea is when temp are below 50 or if you are nursing a sick cham and mix up what u feed your cham they love turnip greens mustard greens bananas and strawberries as well sum ppl feed there chams apples and raspberry also an occasional horn worm and wax worm are great for keeping there digestive tract lubricated mill worms and silk worms make for a great snacks from time to time you must be careful with crickets as they can cause parasites lots of Cham owners prefer Dubai roaches as a staple how ever I think crickets are better until they are over 6-8 months old
