Hi i have cham he's about 5monthsnold been doing great but now the winter is setting in the viv is getting cold at night. He is up in my attic and its red hot normally but in winter its getting really cold dropping to 11/10oC (50f)at night, but it will get colder, i was wondering what set ups ppl have? And what watt's. My viv is exo terra glass 45x45x60cm and mesh top. Can i put a ceramic on mesh? What watt do i need will a 25w see him good over night or need a 40?60? W??? Probly gonna get a thermostat aswell anyway but they dont go below 19oc this is pritty hot no? Read in wild the temp drops to 10/12oc and is health for a good drop from day to night.. Also seen these heat wires??? Any good can u put them in viv or tok hout to touch?

Hi,
My first suggestion would be to move the viv into the main house if the temperature doesn't drop as much? Secondly I would recommend putting a heat mat at the bottom of the viv meaning the heat can rise and covering with a towel, putting it at the top will make it very hard for the heat to penetrate the viv.

Cant move it from loft as girlfried wont have it in house at all.
Heat mats sound good i have a polystyrene back of viv maybe put behind this wouldnt like it on floor as cleaning and water would b a problem.
Would they sit behind there and heat full tank tho? Dont want to waste energy

Step one... Move the viv to main house.
Step two... Remove girlfriend from entire house.
Only joking!!! All I have read has stated that heating pads, ceramic heaters, heat rocks, etc. are all bad. You may want to look into insulating the space and adding several space heaters depending on how big the area is. Just to get the ambient temperature up to where the cage temp is manageable.

Is the loft big enough for the girlfriend? Get her an electric blanket and you're all set.
So i just got a exo terra heat mat (rainforest type) that stickta to side of viv and it works great. Feels like its not on but when i probed it its working good. Keeps the side of tank where he sleeps a steady 13/14 oc lowest drop was 12oc. So it works. I hooe he can find the area whats hot tho. Asiming he can. If not kma invest in a ceramic but not too please on lowest setting been 20oc... Attach a photo. The middle tep in centre of viv and the left is temp near the heat mat where he sleeps its holding at 15.2oc and room is about 8/9oc outside is 2oc and middle od viv is 11oc

She should be able to allow you to move him into the house for his well-being so he doesn't freeze to death up in the attic. I don't understand people. Any creature who is in mortal danger and would benefit from something as simple as a move to a different location, that just makes sense to me.
