Heating/Lighting Question

I was wondering what lighting set up can I put in a room that gets to about 60-65 degrees temp at night, for a 24x24x48 screen enclosure, without creating light or something I can run without needing an extra basking light?

I was hoping to run a Flukers 8.5" Dimmable Dome with it so I can get something like 100w and regulate it as the weather changes!

Your help is much appreciated! Thanks! :) :) :)

Questions...how cold would that room get without the heat lamp? What cham species do you have? Most chams don't need much warmth at night. If the room isn't getting colder than 55 F at night you really don't need extra heat. They need the noticeable drop in temperature so they can rest. As long as the cham can bask and warm up property each morning you may not need to do anything extra at night. You could drape a towel or sheet over the cage to modify the cage temp a little.

You mean to keep the temp up at night?

I'd use a ceramic heat emitter in a second light dome fixture.

Oh yes sorry forgot to mention that! Yes to keep up the temp and not drop below to desirable temps!

Ive been thinking that but talked to Todd of lightyourreptile and he said its not an effective source of heat since it doesnt really direct it at the desired spot and most of the heat goes up instead!

Its actually my room and since I like it cold, my air conditioning gets set to a max of 65F but havent really measured when its winter though!

For now I have a Masoala but might be adding 2 more to the room so a total of 3! So far my set up on the masoala is a 50w infrared light at night thats turned on all night from 8p-7a i think! Its a 50w bulb! Then in the morning the 60w basking light turns on for 2-3hrs and turns on again at around 6p for about1hr! I have plenty of heat from my tropical blaze!

Ohh good to know about the towel! Might do that but will have to remeasure since im setting up the 24x48 soon! :)

Well, heat from any bulb will rise regardless what type of bulb it is. Heat is heat. If you have a hood above the bulb it will trap some of the heat. Again, if your room doesn't get colder than 55 F at night you don't need anything. A towel might help slow down the heat loss from the cage plants at night so it might be all you need.
