My house gets as low as 62 degrees on cold winter nights. Should I use a heat emitter or is 62 ok?

Depends on type of chameleon.

Anything above 50 is safe for veiled.. please tell us type you have

I let my panthers drop down near 50 at night.
Veileds and jacksons I let go down to 40.

62 is very safe and comfortable for any species of chameleon that I am aware of.

It's a 3 month old panther.

Should be fine. Just to confirm- even my newly hatched baby panthers are fine from their first night on, at temps very near 50 (I bring them indoors when temps are forcast to drop below 50 at night, and in my building in the past, temps were often 50-55 at night during parts of the winter). Just make sure he can get warm during the day and he will be fine.
