If he has not already, it’s a good idea to check out chameleon academy, it has a ton of information on different species of chams, husbandry, feeding, safe plants etc. Neptune the chameleon on you tube is also great for videos, and of course right here at the forum are all great sources. As any questions, check out old threads and definitely share pics! 
some do a husbandry review before getting their chams just to make sure all is in check and ready for its tenant. Does he have a specific species in mind? There’s so many out there! 
We are big fans of Neptune and have checked out the Academy as well. Here are pics of his set-up. We do not have the correct lights on it right now because we didn't want to burn up the bulbs but we do have the ones that are recommended by neptune.
