That's pretty much the only way. Otherwise you are going to need a towel and just wipe out all the standing water at the bottom every day so it doesn't start to make a mess everywhere. Or you can just get a tray that fits into your cage and take it out and empty it every day and put it back.

SpIKe6535, Replacement Chameleon I see. Your getting alot of good advice ,my suggestions are for you to do some searches here on CF (Chameleon Forums) on topics to help you out . Read as much as you can.
Above type in a topic ,and grab some knowledge . It's all there from enclosures,humidity ,Lighting UVB ,Basking ,Supplements , gut loading ,Husbandry,health ,early signs of illness,MBD. .
I want you to enjoy having a Chameleon ,for one we are the ones that keep the locales going.Through Captivity and Breeding we have helped there survival. So it's best to give them a close matched to there homeland.
They are little Dinosaurs :):) And they expect us to care for them.
I myself have only been involved with Chameleons for a year now but before I did .I researched like crazy at first and I have a Fantastic breeder always gives me advice. The best of Luck young Friend .

You need more coverage. He needs to be able to hide to feel safe. You need live plants for humidity. This should have been done before getting another one. This one's life is at stake. It will not live long if you don't fix things. I know you're young and can't even drive yet but you need to do right by this animal. It's irresponsible otherwise
