Help, 5 pairs of eggs fused together...

So my female anubis jr. line 13mo. ambilobe just laid her second clutch from her first breeding. The first clutch was a big one, 44 eggs. Well this time I did everything to keep the number under control due to it being a retained clutch and so soon after the first one. I controled her feeding to 5-8 crickets or 2 bigger hornworms every 2 or 3 days. Most days dusted with plain calcium no D3. I even lowered the temps by 4-6 degrees. Well this time she laid 47! 3 more than before. Well out of the 47 eggs 37 of them are normal single eggs and 10 of them are stcuk together in groups of two. They are basically fully formed normal white eggs, they just happen to connect at a point. There is a noticiable division inside them which I believe is the egg wall. I was just wondering if anyone else has has this happen and have they hatched? Here are some pics.

Thanks for reading,

Justin

Yes. In June, my female Melleri, Newbie, laid 74 eggs (she laid 92 last month). Of those 74, 2 groups (4 total eggs) were fused together just like in your pictures. None of that clutch made it past 2 months, as they were infertile.

Oh that is unfortunate or fortunate depending on what you would ahve liked teh outcome to be. Lol. It good to know that the egg fusing happens though, I though my female was getting super steroids or radioactive food or something. I know its not normal but its not too wierd either. I would really love to know if any of them ever hatch though. I'm very curious. Thanks for the insight.

Fused eggs like this can hatch but the problem with it is that one can pip into the other egg when hatching and the baby will drown. If it pips so that its head is able to be out, then it will likely survive.

I too had a female from this bloodline and my female had a couple of fused eggs in her first clutch. This is the thread that I posted when I found these eggs: https://www.chameleonforums.com/siamese-twins-27399/ . When she was getting ready to lay her second clutch, which was retained (no breeding), I noticed that she was having a hard time so I took her to my vet. After some time he tried giving her an injection of oxytocin. Still nothing so a second injection was given the next day. She ended up passing away shortly after. After the necropsy we found that many eggs were fused in this clutch and she was unable to pass them. This could be hereditary, I treated this female the same that I have treated all of my females over the past several years and this is the first time that i have had this problem. I went over everything that I had done to see if I could figure out what may have caused this and found nothing. I am going to recommend not breeding any of the females that hatch from the eggs that I got from her due to this issue. I did not incubate any fused eggs that she laid. Her first clutch has some viable eggs that are currently incubating. Here are the eggs that were removed from her after she passed:

Wow. That is crazy that it happened to two females sired by anubis jr. Mine girls first clutch was normal but htis one was weird. I do not plan on breeding this female ever again due tot he insanely large cluthes she lays and i know they are going to take a toll on her. Also when I do go to sell the female I inted to explain the fused egg situation. Thanks for everyones advice.
