Yes it does look a prolapse and good thing it went back in. This might happen again. What it is is part of the intestines pushing through. If you see this happen again you need to be prepared to keep the area moist with something such as KY lubricant. You do not want the area to dry out. You should also be prepared to seek veterinary attention. Many times a prolapse will seed to be sutured. This can be a very serious situation. I'm sure experienced keepers will be able to advice you better.

How old is your cham? What is his diet? Do you have any substrate in his cage?

That is a prolapse you can try soaking it in sugar water for abit to see if it retracts back in but from the looks of it a vet visit is needed. Keep it moist with Ky or a water based Lubricant so it doesn't dry out and get him to a Vet Asap.:(

I have nothing else to add about the prolapse; you have received good advice already. However you do have a female chameleon not a male.

Thanks for reply~~~

I applied some KY on his rear end~

I put soil and real plant in his or her cage~

Temperature around 20~30 C

Moisture around 70~80

He is eating normally 5~6 small silk worm and some crickets

sometimes he can eat more than 15 crickets~

Can you tell me if it's a female or a male

I got he or she 2 moth ago ~~i think now he is around 4~5 month not really sure~

Thanks again for you reply

that red thing goes back now ~~

she seems okay~~eating good !

If it comes out and stays out its important to put KY jelly on it to keep it moist and get it to the vets right away. If it dries out it will go black and die and then your chameleon will likely have to be put down.

You said she's about 4 or 5 months old...they can lay eggs without being mated once they are sexually mature so its important that you have an appropriate container of washed playsand in the cage at all times once she is sexually mature so she won't become eggbound.
