So my misting system got clogged up and would not spary very well. I tried to take the nozzles off but I couldn't figure it out. I need help on that really bad. And so I missed my Chems (veild boy and girl). I'm in school so I would most them really good in the morning and after noon when I got home. The female started going to the bottom of Her cage so I thought eggs again, so I put a lay bin but she wouldnt lay in it. I came home and about 15 eggs were scattered around her cage. And today I came home and she way on her side at the bottom of her cage, her eyes where closed but still breathing. I got her out and sprayed her down. She had 1 eye slightly opened and 1 shut. She had her mouth open about 1/4 of the way. I googled about those things and it said she could of been to hot, but I have no idea, I'm wondering what really was the problem, maybe egg bound. The first little bit I she would still try to walk but as it went on it worse and I had to go to work and my brother took care of her and when I came home she was dead. I know it my worded good but what I'm try to ask is what could have happened, and how to unclogged mist king. Thanks

On your girl, there is no way to tell what happened. It could have been the stress of the eggs, or something unrelated. If she was in the bottom of the cage that is the coolest part of the cage. Did your male show any signs of overheating? Laying eggs is always a danger for our girls. Sorry you lost her.

Could you explain a bit better about what is wrong with your mistking? How many misters are hooked up to it and are they all acting the same?

No the male is acting the same. And I have 1 nozzle in the females cage and 2 in the boys just cause it's a bigger cage. And I sorta live out in the country and we have well water so I think it's just limestone build uo or something in that nature. But I can't figure out how to take them apart. I didn't put them together I bought them off a guy already set up. I really want to take the mister off the cage and spary them down. But again can't figure out how to. Also is there some sort of water purifier that I can use? Or should be using?

i believe the general rule with water is: if its safe for u to drink on a daily basis without getting sick-it shld b good for your cham. Although there are numerous different water purifiers " i use reptisafe" ...Aside from that i personally dont use misters or drippers \. reason being that it is much easier to spray the enclosure down twice a day!!! either way, sorry for your loss! and buy an infrared thermometer to measure the precise heat in different spots in the enclosure... hope i helped!

The mister is probably clogged with mineral deposits as you thought. You might be able to unclog it without taking it all apart. Worth a try.

Option 1: Get a small container and fill it with a mineral deposit remover such as CLR or Lime Away. Hold the container so the nozzle is submerged and let it soak a few minutes. You may see bubbling as it works. Then run the mister manually but collect the water (to avoid getting the solution all over your cage). See if that frees it up. May have to repeat.

Option 2: Take the whole tubing assembly (with nozzle attached) off the cage and coil it up in a bucket. Again, soak the nozzle in CLR or whatever. Clear the system using the pump. If that was the problem you can avoid this in future by using RO filtered water in the system or taking the tubing/nozzle assembly coiling it into a bucket and cycling some vinegar through the whole system periodically. I did this when on well water in the old days before RO filters were affordable. I would also cycle some bleach solution through the system to get rid of bacterial deposits.

Lime away works great. I have the monsoon mister and the heads are clogged in a few months. I'm looking into getting and ro system to avoid this issue. The only good thing is in the summer months I don't have to run the mister as often but with winter just about here I have it running more often. Tried spring water and that didn't help. But yes I took mine apart from just the nozzle and that fixed the problem. The tubing was fine.

Go to mistking website. On the left side there is a "support" column, click on "instructions ." There is a video on how to take apart tubing and nozzles.

Sorry for your loss. I hope your male recovers.

So-called spring water still has minerals, often more than municipally treated water. It depends on the source. Many people find that harder water tastes better anyway. Soft water often tastes flat as does boiled water...the mineral content has been changed or removed.
