Help! Cham escape

mine got out and i found him hanging upside down under my bed. he was sleeping so i got him in the morning.

lol i let mine hang out in a fake tree ouside to get some rays and 30 mins later he was almost to the roof of a 2 story house climbing the stucco.

I used to FREAK out everytime that hermie got loose... and now it's no big deal for the most part. I just make sure that I don't do any rearranging (so he doesn't get trapped somewhere), throw out any trash bags, or turn on the stove etc. He usually shows up sitting ontop of some cords. Although a few times I've actually found him sitting ontop of HIS cage (which of course is the last place that I usually look ...) He usually shows up within 12 hours.

Next time turn off the lights and use a flash light to look for his glowing eyes. Glad you found him. He was probably looking at you, "What?, why you looking at me like that?" kind of look, right.

WE found him this morning!! he was on top of the drums for rock band!! hes safe now!

Good news!
Glad you found him okay.

When I read your post earlier today, I didnt take the warning.

I have a shy young cham named Lennie, who pretends to be a branch anytime I am around - he doesnt move - total freeze frame. This evening I took out a feeding cup to give it a wash. I didnt properly close his cage, since I was coming right back and since he was, as usually, doing a perfect impression of not being alive.

I swear it was only 3 minutes. When I came back, no Lennie.

PANIC! Now, I know not to panic since a couple of the others have taken a walk from time to time. But Lennie is young and new and I dont know his free-roaming habits because he's never roamed! I found him climbing the trim around the door frame. Amazing.

And yes, he looked at me as if to say, "what? what are you looking at?"

Under the toilet.... yes its clean in the bathroom!

i found mine in the same place once

I found this funny, because anyone that owns a chameleon probably doesn't have to purposely let any crickets go. I am not sure about anyone else, but I seen to find those FRs everywhere!

When I first started, I had crickets all over the house. I had to try and catch them before my roommates saw them. One time my girlfriend was sleeping in my room and she freaked out because one crawled across her mouth....lol I kept trying to convince her it was nothing.

Marc, this is awesome because it's so true! Unfortunately my herp room is also my bedroom, so I have my entire crew of chameleons within a few feet of my bed (feeders and all :p). So you can imagine how many times I have had to swat escapee crickets and king-worms off of the sheets or even out of the Mrs' hair before she notices they are there. :p I can't tell you how many times I have had to convince my girlfriend that the "crepy-crawlys" or ripe smells of fresh panther poo are all in her imagination. Luckily for me, like my chameleons, I have a keen eye for spotting insects on the wall just before my girlfriend does. "I swear, you are imagining things, sweetie." Absolutely priceless!!! On a positive note, falling asleep to the chirping of crickets is very relaxing and alot cheaper then buying one of those "sounds of nature" cds.:D

I have the exact problem! There was a wild cricket on my pillow last night

I live in a desert area and now that its getting colder we are having a cricket plague with them coming indoors. They are everywhere! :(

Lucky I have an excuse if any of mine do escape.....:D

those crickets are ugly as hell.
My landlady, God Bless her heart, caught a cricket in the living room and told me that she caught one of my crickets escapee and ask if any of my chameleon is hungry.

I look at the cricket she caught.
I said, " Heck no. That ain't my cricket."

see I hate the chirping of crickets, so I but only medium crickets. They are not able to chirp, and supposedly healthier because their exoskeleton isn't as hard. I haven't looked into that last statement...just what I was told once.
