My classroom Chameleon has finally outgrown his 16x16x30 enclosure and I just built him this today. However, I need plant advice... In the past I've used Benjamin Ficus found at my local Lowes or Home Depot but found that they died rather quickly no matter what I did.
What plant(s) do you all suggest?
For those of you that can tell, yes the stand is built from a Utility Sink from my local Lowes.
In this picture you can see the lighting. I use a 18" ZooMed T8 bulb with UVB bulb. The combo bulb came from the ZooMed Chameleon Starter kit. I'm currently using a single 60w heat bulb and will use the 2nd bulb slot if the temps drop at night, but that's not a problem here in California.
You can also see my rain system I set up. I might enlarge the ring and arch so it gets a wider spray/rain area. This was left over from the old enclosure.
How I attached the MistKing. Since the Utility sink will never be completely filled with water I had no problem drilling into the upper portion to hold the MistKing and it's power supply. You can also see the molly bolts coming down from the top. These 4 bolts are the only thing holding the enclosure down to the stand. It seems pretty secure however, I wish I could secure the front a bit better.
The black JohnGuest fitting on the left part of the tub is the "FILL PORT for the fresh water tank inside the tub. The bucket under the tub collects drainage from leftover water from the MistKing. You can kinda spot the tube coming from the bottom which allows fresh water to enter the MistKing pump (I had to drill and install a bulkhead in the bottom of the Utility Sink).
Under the plastic bottom (Provided by ZooMed with the enclosure). In the back you can see the 4 molly bolts holding the enclosure to the stand. On the left you can see the fill port and in the middle is the fresh water bucket which can hold up to 32 Liters (8 Gallons) of water.
