Help egg hanging?

My almost one year old female has an egg hanging out of her! She had showed no signs of digging. I have had other females lay eggs, without a problem. Question, should i try and pull them out of her? She has not eaten for a week and will not dig. I dug a hole but she will not stay in it. Any suggestions?

I would suggest a vet appointment as soon as possible. If it is an egg the vet will likely want to give her fluids and oxytocin to stimulate laying. This is normally not a really expensive procedure. Just an exam fee, a fee for administering the fluids, and a fee for the oxytocin injection.

In the mean time try to hydrate her by placing her on a plant, or in her cage, in your shower stall. Aim the shower head at the wall of the stall and let a spray of warm water bounce off the wall onto her. Leave her there, monitored, for at least 20 minutes. She is likely dehydrated, along with whatever else may be going on. But the primary concern would be rehydration. Then getting her to the vet. If you can get her to the vet today then don't bother with the shower.

I realize it's pretty late in the day in Florida. But try to get the vet to squeeze you in today. When I have an emergency like this my vet allows me to call and then come in and wait until she can squeeze me in.

Don't forget to tell the vet she hasn't eaten in a week.

Thanks for the help. It is late on Sat and no vet open. Also, I just had a grandbaby born last night and very busy. Bad timing! I have been giving her warm sink baths for a few days which may have stimulated the egg coming out today whille I was gone. The vet had told me this last time I was in for impaction my male had, which I thought my female had. I will need to giver her another day now, she is drinking so that is good. Any other ideas?
