It turns out that since last summer, more or less, it started to come out as a kind of inflammation in the chin, as a result, over time, the little side of the lower jaw began to open up. I do not know what it could be. Maybe it's something that can not be fixed or maybe yes. I know many of you are more expert than me, and you may know what it is. Oh yeah I see that little growth there. It could be a number of things, and you can't really know for sure. If it were me, I probably would go on a little road trip and drive him to the nearest exotics veterinarian. This site is great and all, but it really can't effectively diagnose a potentially serious health issue. The vet is going to be your best option imho

Might be an infection/mouth rot. If it is it really needs to be cleaned out by a good exotics vet and the chameleon put on antibiotics. A culture and sensitivity test can determine the bacteria involved so the right antibiotic can be used. The usual bacteria is pseudomonas aeriginosa (sp?).
You've done well to get him to that age!

Not sure if you are close to this one, but that's all I could find.

Could you post a few more pictures from different angles? Since you say the issue has been there since last summer I would think it will keep getting worse if not treated. It could be a cyst that is causing the inflammation. That's just a guess though.

No but six years for a chameleon is old, and I am not saying you shouldn't try, but don't get get your hopes up. I've lost a lot of pets and it's hard. Always expect the worst and if it goes wrong your prepared if it doesn't you get a happy surprise.

If I were you, I would only give up when I know for a fact its over. I agree that six years is old for a chameleon, but don't give up hope. Sometimes they actually pull through, and you get to be happy about the fact that you tried. Good luck with everything.

You should never assume everything will be fine, but you should still try to do everything you can to make your chameleon comfortable and give them a chance to have as long a life as possible. You know maybe you should concentrate on yourself instead of constantly telling other people they're wrong, it might make help make people like you. You know I bet your harsh because you've been in this position of being wrong and having someone criticize your every mistake. Second of all I didn't say " give up and go home, your chameleon is lost cause" I just said it might be time. That way if it does happen it isn't a awful surprise. Stop being a jerk to people who are new to chameleons. It isn't easy, and nothing ever goes perfectly as planned. Even if you did hours of studying chameleons you still can't tell someone exactly how they're going to react. All chameleons are different something that works for one might not work for the other.

I have seen something like this on a leopard gecko and it was a small tumerous growth that was removed.im not 100% sure though im only a newbie to chameleons. Best of luck.
